Krystal Mayo is raising four children as a single mom. She has had to overcome hardships which might derail others. But she stayed on track, devoting 350+ hours of volunteer “sweat equity” to earn the keys to a new Habitat home, all while working full-time at a local condominium and keeping her children safe and in school.
On April 29, 2017 she got those keys thanks to the support of home partner Publix Super Markets Charities and others who made donations in memory of long-time Habitat Broward volunteer Don Gruneisen. “This is the home that love built!” Beside being a good person and a good parent, Krystal says, “To be the first person in my family to own a home is truly the highest goal I could ask to reach. Now, at the end of the school day, my children can say, with conviction, I’m going home!”
Krystal’s marks the 408th home in our Habitat Broward history.
