What Is Women Build?

Women Build is a community-driven initiative where women—and men—come together to build strength, stability, and self-reliance through housing. Participants raise funds, pick up tools, and literally help construct homes for hardworking families, many of them led by women.

Together, we’re breaking barriers and building futures.

Why Women?

Achieving housing stability is far more difficult for women to realize than for men in similar situations.

Single women are denied mortgages at higher rates than single men, despite being more reliable at paying them back.
On average, men earn more than women, resulting in access to better credit, loans, homes, and neighborhoods.
80% of single-parent households are headed by women, who are also more likely to be caregivers—limiting employment opportunities.

Homeownership is transformative. It leads to improved financial, educational, social, and health outcomes—but too many women are shut out.

Women Build is one small step toward change. We raise awareness and build affordable homes for women in Broward County.
