FORT LAUDERDALE (December 18, 2023) – In a heartwarming gesture of community support, David Lafon and Colin Meneely representing Structural Group, presented a generous $50,000 check to Habitat for Humanity of Broward at their offices (located at 888 NW 62nd Street, 2nd Floor, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33309). The check presentation took place on Monday, December 11.
This donation is not just a financial contribution; it is a beacon of hope for a family in Deerfield Beach. With dreams of homeownership on the horizon, this funding will play a pivotal role in the construction of a new home, creating a haven where dreams flourish and futures are built.
David Lafon, Senior Business Development Manager at Structural Technologies, reflected on this impactful initiative, stating “At Structural Group, we believe in the power of community and the strength found in helping one another. Our commitment to Habitat for Humanity aligns with our vision of building not just structures but also brighter, more resilient communities. This check represents more than just dollars; it symbolizes the collective spirit of giving that transforms lives.”
“Structural Group, support for affordable homeownership is a demonstration of its deep commitment to giving back to its community. This gift will help a hard-working family achieve the economic empowerment only homeownership provides for generations to come,” said Nancy Robin, CEO and Executive Director of Habitat Broward.
Today, South Florida is the nation’s most cost-burdened housing market in the nation with high home prices and low wages making homeownership out of reach for 96 percent of Broward residents.
Habitat Broward’s program combines home construction with affordable mortgage financing and robust education to put working families on the path to long-term financial security through homeownership.
The Deerfield Beach community will be completed in May 2024 with a total of seven homes for deserving families.
