FORT LAUDERDALE, FL (February 10, 2025) – Habitat for Humanity of Broward brought together South Florida’s most influential business leaders for the 6th Annual CEO Build, a transformative initiative tackling the critical need for affordable workforce housing. Held on Saturday, February 1, at the rapidly developing BBI Village community in Fort Lauderdale, the event showcased the power of collective leadership and action to create lasting, life-changing impact on homeownership for hardworking local families.

Co-chaired by Brent Burns, recently retired CEO of JM Family Enterprises, Inc., and Keith Koenig, Chairman of CITY Furniture, the CEO Build united South Florida’s top leaders, who collectively lead over 400,000 employees, from diverse industries to contribute their time, resources, and expertise. Broward homeowners and skilled volunteers, participants reaffirmed their shared commitment to making affordable workforce housing a reality in one of the nation’s most cost-burdened housing markets.

“Building alongside these determined families is a powerful reminder of what’s possible when a community comes together,” said Brent Burns, recently retired CEO of JM Family Enterprises and member of its Board of Directors. “Access to affordable homeownership can transform lives, and we’re proud to support Habitat for Humanity in making it a reality for more hard-working families. We encourage other companies to get involved—because together, we can create stronger futures.”

Beyond construction, the event created a powerful space for CEOs to engage directly with the families whose lives they are transforming, fostering connection and a deeper understanding of the barriers these families overcome on their path to homeownership. “The CEO Build is a powerful reminder of what can be achieved when leaders unite for a common purpose. It’s more than building homes—it’s about building hope and a foundation for families to thrive. Seeing the pride and gratitude of families taking a step closer to their dream of homeownership is a moment that stays with you. It’s a privilege to be part of something that creates such lasting impact in our community,” added Keith Koenig, Chairman of CITY Furniture.

The CEO Build strengthens Habitat Broward’s mission of building homes, communities, and hope. “We’re deeply grateful for the unwavering support of our local business community,” said Nancy Robin, CEO of Habitat for Humanity of Broward. “Their generosity and hands-on involvement are making a real difference in the lives of hardworking families. Together, we’re building a stronger, more equitable future.”

This year’s CEO Build was made possible through the support of JM Family Enterprises, Inc., CITY Furniture, WSVN – Channel 7, South Florida Business Journal, and Exquisite Catering by Robert. Their commitment underscores the importance of partnerships in addressing critical community needs.
