Habitat for Humanity of Broward announced today it has been named a recipient of the Bank of America Charitable Foundation’s 2014 Community Development Grant.
The grant is part of a $402,500 collective donation to address issues related to affordable housing and neighborhood revitalization in South Florida.
“We are honored to receive this Community Development Grant from our friends at the Bank of America Charitable Foundation,” said Perry Ecton, Executive Director of Habitat for Humanity of Broward. “It’s crucial to provide stable, affordable housing and home ownership to individuals in Broward County so we can build a healthy and vibrant community. This grant will clearly make a lasting impact.”
Specifically, the Community Development Grant will help Habitat for Humanity of Broward fund the construction of a new home in Pompano Beach. It will be one of 25-30 homes the organization anticipates building this year.
“For years, Bank of America has invested in community development grants throughout South Florida,” added Ecton. “This year alone, the grants will impact 354,855 individuals. These grants help individuals and families regain and maintain financial stability through access to affordable housing, prepare future homeowners, provide financial education and contribute to the area’s economic development by supporting work that strengthens the vitality of our communities.”
