Marine Industries Association of South Florida to Support Project
Habitat for Humanity of Broward teamed up recently with the Marine Industries Association of South Florida to break ground on two new homes to be built off Sistrunk Boulevard in Fort Lauderdale.
Destined for families in need of affordable housing, each home will have five bedrooms and two and one-half baths. The families have not been selected as yet.
“First, we want to thank the Marine Industries Association of South Florida for its support,” said Perry Ecton, Executive Director of Habitat for Humanity of Broward. “These homes will be just two of 25-30 homes we anticipate building this year. This project just follows Habitat’s vision of a world where everyone has a decent place to live.”
“The economic platform that the marine industry is comprised of – 5,500 entrepreneurial small business owners – led us to Habitat,” said Phil Purcell, Executive Director of the Marine Industries Association of South Florida. “The marine business believes in the benefit of helping families break the cycle of poverty, while strengthening our community and providing a path of replicable success through education, attitudes and the leadership of the marine industry.”
