Congratulations to Marcia Barry-Smith, Director of Community Outreach/Program Services for being selected as a 2018 Woman of Distinction by the Lauderhill Regional Chamber of Commerce! Barry-Smith, one of ten honorees, is being recognized for her leadership in the community.

This recognition from the Lauderhill Regional Chamber of Commerce comes on the heels of the Inclusive Economic Opportunity Award that Barry-Smith received from the Broward County Chapter of the United Nations Association of the United States of America (UNA-USA) in October 2017. 

Highly regarded as an expert in community development around the nation, her nationally acclaimed program Homeless to Homeowner has placed hundreds of formerly homeless families into homeownership, empowering them to reach for independence and financial fitness.

Barry-Smith serves on numerous boards including the Broward County Housing Council and the Lauderhill Local Affordable Housing Committee. A Lauderhill resident, she received a bachelor’s degree in sociology from the University of Toronto.
