The Marine Industries Association of South Florida (MIASF) will stage its first Habitat for Humanity of Broward home build on Saturday, August 8, from 8 a.m. to noon.
MIASF will assemble its Board of Directors as well as staff, donors and members to help construct the duplex home located at 732 NW 15th Avenue in Fort Lauderdale.
Eight members of the MIASF organization have joined together to sponsor the house – Maritime Professional Training, Frank & Jimmie’s Propeller, Neptune Boat Lifts, High Seas Yacht Service, Ward’s Marine Electric, Advanced Mechanical Enterprises, National Marine Suppliers and Denison Yacht Sales.
“Because the marine industry plays such a leading role in South Florida’s economy, including an $8.8 billion economic impact in Broward County, we believe it’s important to lead and support our community,” said Phil Purcell, executive director of the MIASF. “Our members are passionate about the area they live and work in and are committed to reinvesting in their community and making it a better place to live.”
“The Marine Industries Association of South Florida is a great partner,” said Perry Ecton, executive director of Habitat for Humanity of Broward. “We truly appreciate what they and their members are doing specific to this project. They will truly be making a difference in our society by offering hope and shelter to two needy families.”
